A collection of recent work by Kansas City-based artist Mikey Yates (previously featured here). Taken from his last show with Taymour Grahne Projects, “Boomerang” is a long meditation on the places we call home. Yates invokes the reflections and artifacts that haunt these mental and physical spaces, reminding us that the true essence of the term remains even as loved ones drift away or separate. In this way, the paintings themselves act as a tribute to the memories and objects we choose to return to – the things that make us feel at home.
