But the trade-off with this exclusive pre-order freebie is that GameStop requires you to claim it in store. I can’t believe GameStop expects me to come out the day I should be inside play the game non-stop.

Walmart’s incentive is a free Master Sword wall scroll. Unfortunately, after Walmart quickly sold out a gold-colored wall roll limited to 5,000 units, they came back with a black wall roll that sold out, came back, and sold out again. The Black Scroll is also “limited”, but there’s no mention that there’s a set number, so maybe it could pop up once more.

Although a little more expensive at $74.99, we’d be remiss not to point out that Costco is also getting into the pre-order chaos. Currently, the popular wholesale retailer is offering its members a Zelda-inspired PowerA Protection Case with every purchase, which includes a physical version of the upcoming Nintendo Switch title.

Finally, let’s finally talk about the elusive white whale from Zelda pre-orders. THE Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom The Collector’s Edition is the required expensive bundle of the game with a bunch of added fancy loot included. In this one, the standard cartridge version of the game comes with a steel metal case for a classier look on your shelf, as well as a poster, collector’s pins and a small art book which all together cost $129.99.

Pre-orders at retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target have sold out very quickly and have periodically resurfaced for short periods of time, but are still unavailable at this time. It is possible he can come back with more availability like the Metroid Dread The Special Edition did, but there’s certainly no guarantee it’ll happen before or even after May 12.
