Zebrafish seem to have numerical abilities at a very young age

Zebrafish larvae may possess primitive counting ability just days after hatching.

Several animals, including bees and salamanders, have been shown to have some form of digital proficiency. For example, laboratory experiments suggest that rhesus monkeys could count to six.

Numerical ability has also been observed in very young humans, with a study showing that number sense in 6-month-old babies is linked to better math test scores three years later.
